Hello, and welcome to my website! My name is Nieko Maatjes. I'm a programmer by profession, but besides programming, tinkering, exact sciences, etc. (see my side projects), I also like to sport (running, fitness, cycling, speed skating, frisbee, skiing, sparring), bake, juggle, and spend time with my family.
Also, my wife and I like traveling a lot. Besides the Netherlands, where I'm from, we used to live in Moscow (2009-2012, where I even got Russian citizenship), later in Prague (2012-2013, and 2017), and near Zurich (2019-2022). I initially wrote a lot about living abroad on my blog, but later I mainly focused on our travels.
